Restylane has been used worldwide since 1996.

Restylane is the only cosmetic dermal filler made of non animal based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. It is what gives soft tissue its bulk and "feel". Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and therefore it also dissolves naturally with time.

Because Restylane is synthetically prepared, it requires no pre testing, or waiting period as required with collagen. The most common side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site.

Restylane has been shown to last anywhere from six to 12 months, with some patients requesting "touch-ups" before the product has fully dissipated.

Restylane is different from Botox. Botox is a drug that blocks nerve transmissions and relaxes the underlying muscles. Restylaneis a natural cosmetic filler that plumps and fills wrinkles.

Some patients are more sensitive to discomfort from injections then others. For those patients Dr. Wardle will anesthetize the treatment area.
