Hair Transplant surgery has changed dramatically over the past decades. Gone are the days of the “dolls hair” appearance of transplants. Newer techniques of micro and mini graft, FUE’s (follicular unit extraction) and microscope dissection have replaced strip grafts and plugs. The results achievable today are extremely natural looking and reliable. The scope of application has also expanded to include not just treatment of Male Patterned Baldness, but also now applies to Diffuse Female Hair Loss, Facelift scar camouflaging, Eyebrow transplants and Eyelash transplants just to name a few.
The surgery itself is now performed as an outpatient procedure under light sedation or local anesthesia. Patients return home the same day. A light head dressing is required only for one night. No further dressings are needed and showering is permitted at two to three days after surgery. Patients can usually return to work within a week.
